The Taieri Christian Ministry Association will lead dozens of people on the Mosgiel Walk of the Cross, an act of devotion, on Good Friday.

The procession, which symbolises Jesus’ journey to crucifixion through prayers and the carrying of a cross, will depart at 9am on Good Friday from St Luke’s on the Taieri, 67 Gordon Rd, Mosgiel.

Taieri Christian Ministry Association member Elaine Merrett said participants in the Mosgiel Walk of the Cross would cover five ‘‘stations’’, stopping at churches along the way to hear a reading and say a prayer before walking and singing hymns.

Mrs Merrett said the ecumenical Mosgiel Walk of the Cross event had been held for the past 20 years and was open to all.

‘‘Holding the event is a good way for us to share our message with the community,’’ she said.

The walk will return to St Luke’s on the Taieri for a service at 10am, with Rev Peter Cheyne as guest preacher.

The service will be followed by tea and hot cross buns.
