Taking part in the 2026 Dunedin Metro Pennants Competition for the first time are Dunedin Junior Golf players (from left) Harry Morrison, 15, Campbell Tate, 15, Max Nation, 17, Ben Brown, 14, Jacob Lomas-Knight, 16, Ethan Hand, 15, Liam Lomas-Knight, 14 and Will Duffy, 13.

Dunedin Junior Golf co-ordinator Jenn Bowman said the young golfers, aged from 12-17, were competing against men in the intermediate (8-15 handicap) grade and in the senior B (under 9 handicap) grade.

Golf was an ageing sport, so it was great to see young players having the confidence to compete in a men’s tournament, she said.

The pennants competition is a format where golf clubs compete on a weekly basis. The series runs until June.
