Bryan Cadogan wins Clutha mayoralty

Clutha has a new mayor after Bryan Cadogan beat incumbent Juno Hayes, who was seeking a fifth consecutive term.

Balclutha retailer Mr Cadogan (50) stood against Mr Hayes three years ago and lost by 958 votes.

This time around he won by 354 votes.

Dairy farmer Hamish Anderson polled third, closely behind Mr Hayes.

Results: Bryan Cadogan, 2445; Juno Hayes, 2091; Hamish Anderson, 2036; Barry Keith, 305.
