The Envirostep scheme set up to help businesses with environmental performance has been transferred from government control into the business community.
Envirostep is a free, online self-assessment tool designed to help businesses understand, improve and communicate their environmental performance, and has gained over 850 registered users since it was launched last July.
Commerce Minister Simon Power said the scheme would from now on be administered by environmental certification company Telarc SAI Ltd, which was "well placed to deliver Envirostep and administer a national certification programme".
The Government funded the set-up costs and the scheme would remain free.
