Boutique hotel Ebb-Dunedin (pictured) has scooped the top award at the Window and Glass Association New Zealand’s awards.

The hotel’s art glass curtain facade, which features art work by Simon Kaan, won the "designing with glass" commercial award and then received the supreme award.

Ebb-Dunedin opened in Filleul St last year and features 28 rooms.

The exterior artwork depicts the heads of Otago Harbour, and the view of the land, sea and sky, a recurring theme in the hotel’s design.

Judges described the building as a showcase of the multiple capabilities of glass in construction, realised through an apparently seamless sequence of good decisions in design, fabrication and installation.

The architect was Gary Todd Architecture, the window joinery was done by Hagley Windows and Doors, the glass was provided by Thermaseal Smart Glass Solutions and construction was by Stewart Construction.
