The $5 million redevelopment of the former Glendermid Leathers site at Sawyers Bay is on track for completion late next month.

Port Otago is redeveloping the site and creating a 4000sq m storage and distribution warehouse, to be used to store ingredients bound for the Gardians dairy processing plant near Clydevale, as well as dried milk products from the plant for export.

Port Otago's general manager, infrastructure, Lincoln Coe, said Calder Stewart was making good progress on construction. About 80% of the concrete wall panels fabricated on site had been lifted into position. Work was continuing on the roof. Fulton Hogan had earlier completed project earthworks.
