Another way to avoid getting lost this summer

Otago Daily Times technology editor Dene Mackenzie has sourced a product that could be your saviour if travelling unknown roads on your summer holiday.

We have one TomTom to give away to a lucky Summer Times reader.

TomTom's latest updates to its Android and iPhone navigation apps bring leading mapping technology to even more smartphone owners.

The newest version of the Android app is optimised for use with the latest and most popular smartphone handsets, supporting more than 200 of the newest devices. Meanwhile, the iPhone app makes the most of the extra screen offered by the iPhone 5.

Each of the apps offers the functionality of a dedicated GPS with the portability and convenience of a smartphone, with TomTom's IQ Routes, free lifetime maps, Advanced Lane Guidance and High Resolution maps which avoid chewing through data.

The app integrates seamlessly with contacts and Bluetooth and HD Trafiic, the most accurate real time traffic alert on the market, is available as an in-app purchase. But for those drivers who still like the TomTom attached to their dashboards, the Otago Daily Times has one to give away.

Please tell us the most remote place you visited through your holidays between December 26 and January 14 to be in to win.

Send your answers to playtime@alliedpress.co.nz with Summer Times TomTom in the subject line and include your name, address and email.
