One person has been arrested after armed police were called to an incident in Christchurch involving a suspected firearm in a vehicle.

A police spokesperson said officers were called to Ferry Rd about 4.35pm on Monday.

“Police were alerted to suspicious behaviour and a suspected firearm in a vehicle on Ferry Road.”

The spokesperson said the occupants of the vehicle were detained and one person was arrested.

The police investigation into the incident are ongoing.
