A crash on the Christchurch Southern Motorway caused long delays for motorists on Monday afternoon.
The crash was reported to emergency services about 3.25pm and blocked the southbound and merging lanes near the SH76 interchange.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi warned “road users to take extra care and to expect delays along this route”.
The crash scene was cleared by about 3.45pm and “all lanes have been restored”.
"Road users should expect some delays until all congestion has eased,” NZTA said.
Fire crews from the Ilam, Burnham Camp, Rolleston, and Wigram fire stations were called to the crash scene.
