Young people looking at career options, or work, turned out in big numbers to the annual North Canterbury Youth Futures Careers Expo.

Held at MainPower Stadium, in Rangiora, last week and hosted by the Waimakariri District Council’s community team, there was 71 stallholders which attracted more than 1300 visitors.

It included North Canterbury employers, training providers and interactive activities.

The expo provided opportunities for visitors to learn about a wide range of career options in retail, technology, healthcare, the trades industries, teaching, hospitality, police work, real estate, health and beauty, construction, tool making, creative arts and more.

There was also the opportunity to meet employers and business leaders as well as making networking contacts with potential employers and learning about study options.

The coiuncil’s youth development facilitator, Emily Belton, a key organiser of the event, said she was pleased with the support the expo had received from the community.

"A huge thankyou to everyone who attended our Careers Expo.

"We hope all 1300 attendees had the opportunity to explore future career pathways and connect with the 71 local businesses and training providers who joined us on the day."
