A three-vehicle crash closed the Rakaia River bridge on State Highway 1 in both directions on Monday morning. 

A police spokesman said emergency services were called to the scene at about 6.30am. 

There are no reports of serious injury. However, there will be delays while the vehicles involved are cleared.

A NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi spokesperson said the bridge was reopened at 8.22am.

"Expect delays as congestion eases.”
