On display this week are works from Columba College...
Picture One: Alice Toomer, (11), year 7, Still Life Cups (mixed media). This image was made to practise observational skills and technical skills. It includes dry, wet and mixed-media versions of a cup.
Picture Two: Aïcha Wyland, (12), year 8, Flower (coloured pencil and pencil).
Picture Three: Jessica Perry (16), year 12, Untitled (mixed media). The artist's palette was inspired by works and techniques I learned in class.
Picture Four: Angela Jenks (14), year 9, Greene (Wo)man (mixed media). Students were asked to respond to the mythical Green Man figure by looking at the work of British artist John Piper and contemporary illustrators. Mono-printing, stencilling, photography and drawing were used to make this composite mixed-media illustration on Photoshop.
Picture Five: Wachiraphon Laoroekutai (17), year 12, She Cat (graphic design). The cat in my homestay inspired me to produce a horror movie poster... I felt cats' faces have similarities to humans' faces.
Picture Six: Lucy Newton (17), year 12, Eye Spy (digital photograph). My work was inspired by a photo taken by the artist Dorothee von Windheim. I used paper and Photoshop . . . The theme for this project was surrealism.
