Canadian director Jim Millan is encouraging Australian children to embrace the theatre and he's confident the classic cartoon character Scooby Doo holds the key.
After being seen by four and a half million people around the world in the past eight years, the international production Scooby Doo in Stagefright will embark on a three-month Australian tour on Thursday.
Millan says he hopes it gets Australian children away from their computer screens.
The stage show follows the gang as they visit Daphne's uncle who is making a film at a movie studio, where they discover someone has been trying to sabotage the movie.
The award-winning director says he catered for children from the age of three right through to adults.
A few changes have been made for Australian audiences, including making the character of the spoilt actress Australian.
