She may be one of Hollywood's hottest young stars but Kate Bosworth is ‘‘just like a normal person'', according to the New Zealanders who met her yesterday.

The Superman Returns and Blue Crush actress did some sightseeing in the Southern Alps yesterday with her boyfriend, British model James Rousseau.

Bosworth has been in the country since November to film action-fantasy movie Laundry Warrior alongside Australian actor Geoffrey Rush, who starred in Shakespeare In Love and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

From Glentanner Park, the 25-year-old was taken on a 45-minute scenic flight around the Mt Cook and Westland National Parks and the Murchison, Tasman, Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers.

Glentanner Park employee Annie Corrigan was on the flight. ‘‘She's really, really lovely and down to earth. We were all asking if we could have a picture with her and she said it was fine. She was sort of a girl next door.''

Bosworth invited Ms Corrigan, who is also from the US, to have coffee at the Glentanner restaurant after the helicopter returned.

Helicopter Line base manager Nicola Graham said Bosworth's movie producer arranged the outing and the couple had stayed at Mt Cook's Hermitage Hotel the night before.
