Lynch was given the Benny Award at a ceremony in Auckland last week.
The award, named after a famous New Zealand magician Edgar Benyon, is awarded by the Variety Artists of New Zealand annually to an entertainer or member of the entertainment industry who has excelled or made an extraordinary contribution to the industry.
Previous winners include Sir Howard Morrison, John Rowles and the late Rob Guest.
Lynch has been in the entertainment spotlight for many years.
She started her career when she was 14, as a member of the New Zealand duo The Chicks, before going solo in 1969.
In 1970 she was voted New Zealand Entertainer of the Year, before heading off to London where she was in huge demand, both as a session vocalist and live performer.
