Anchored by the dexterous rhythm section of Ayse Hassan (bass) and Fay Milton (drums), guitarist Gemma Thompson weaves sinuous lines to which Jehnny Beth adds assured but almost understated vocals that range from deadpan to dark yet deftly spoken.
It's how this band punctuates its music that makes Adore Life so interesting; time signatures appear slightly shifted, adding to a sense of restlessness and a foreboding that, only occasionally, is allowed a cathartic release.
