Music Review: Travis Scott

Travis Scott is perhaps best known as Kylie Jenner’s Baby-Daddy, yet this status will change with grandiloquent third album Astroworld.

As one of Kanye’s most faithful acolytes, this is Scott’s own beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy: a work breathless in scope and utterly bonkers in execution, from Stargazing’s jaw-dropping falsetto, the woozy carnival of Carousel, and Sicko Mode’s vertiginous beat drop, to the stellar guest list, which counts Drake, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Tame Impala and Stevie Wonder among its shining lights. Such reckless disregard for convention amounts to a psychedelic trap opus set to launch Scott into the stratosphere.

 Travis Scott. Astroworld. Sony Music.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
