These hardworking farmers and growers are the unsung heroes of Aotearoa, embodying the no.8 wire mentality, and resilience as they face the challenges of rural life. It’s time to acknowledge their extraordinary efforts through the 2023 ODT and Rural Life Year of the Farmer Awards.
Amidst the ever-changing regulations and unique challenges of farming in New Zealand, farmers and growers persevere with unwavering commitment. They are out on the land in the harshest of winters when others are rugged up with the heat pump on and the hottest of summers when we are out enjoying the beaches and lakes. They are humble and their tireless efforts often fly under the radar, without the recognition they truly deserve.

Deeply rooted in Otago and Southland, Landpro's team of multi-disciplinary environmental consultants offer a comprehensive range of services to assist farmers in navigating environmental challenges. Their expertise allows farmers to make informed decisions, striking a delicate balance between environmental sustainability and commercial, social, technical and legal viability.
The Year of the Farmer Awards aims to honour the remarkable resilience, ethical farming practices, and positive impact that farmers and growers have on their communities. Through this partnership, they strive to shine a light on those who dedicate their lives to working the land and nourishing the nation.
Landpro not only talks the talk but walks the walk too, actively reinvesting 5 percent of their profit back into the local communities they work in. This support extends to various projects, educational programs, and events. For example, Landpro demonstrated their support to the local community by making contributions to the Gorge Road Pool in Southland and providing goal post covers for the Matakanui Rugby Club.
In addition to the grass roots support Landpro also supports key industry strategic partnerships. They recently sponsored the Dairy Women’s Network Conference, an initiative aimed at empowering women in the dairy sector, and extended their support to Meat the Need, a farmer-led charity that connects farmers willing to donate their produce with families in need. The initiative has provided over one million mince meals to kiwi families.

Their team is also dedicated to promoting sustainability, currently striving to obtain certification through the esteemed Toitū net carbonzero program. In a recent venture, they worked with the Otago Regional Council to help preserve their local environment, by conducting an extensive study focused on the management of Otago’ lakes.
Landpro's involvement in the Year of the Farmer Awards stems from their belief that farmers and growers deserve our utmost respect and support. Not all heroes wear capes; some prefer a pair of trusty Red Bands and a cold Speights. Cheers to our farmers and growers!
Landpro operates out of 5 key locations to service the needs of its Central Otago, Southland and North Island clients. Landpro's primary office is based in Cromwell while its additional offices are in Gore, Wanaka, New Plymouth and Stratford.
