Four Otago restaurants named as finalists

Four Otago restaurants have been named finalists in the sixth Cuisine Restaurant of the Year competition.

They are Plato and Two Chefs Bistro in Dunedin, Botswana Butchery in Queenstown and Riverstone Kitchen near Oamaru.

Riverstone and Plato were runners-up in the casual dining regional and casual dining metropolitan categories respectively in 2008.

Plato, Riverstone and Two Chefs are participating in the Dining with the Stars promotion during July.

They will offer specially created, fixed-price menus matched with wines from the much-awarded winery, Villa Maria Estate.

More information is available in the latest issue of Cuisine, and the winners of the various categories - best smart dining metropolitan and regional, best casual dining metropolitan and regional, best neigbourhood restaurant, best specialist restaurant , best winery restaurant, restaurant personality of the year and the supreme winner - will be announced on August 16.
