Man chased, shot dead on Melbourne street

A young man fleeing from gunmen tipped over a wheelie bin in a desperate bid to escape two attackers just seconds before he was shot dead on a Melbourne street.

Victoria Police on Wednesday released footage of Anwar Teriaki, 21, who was fatally shot just after midnight on August 9 in Roxburgh Park.

The CCTV shows Mr Teriaki running along Coronet Ave with two men in hot pursuit, while a silver sedan follows along shortly afterwards.

He tips over a wheelie bin when he gets to the corner of Coronet Ave and Atlas St, causing one of the chasing men to fumble the weapon he was carrying.

The men caught up with him at the corner of Coronet Ave and Heyfield Rd, and shot him dead.

The two men and the silver sedan then headed east along Heyfield Rd.

"The vehicle used during the murder was later located in Clingin Street, Reservoir, partially burnt out," a police statement said.

"A number of items of potential forensic value were located inside the vehicle."

The first male attacker is about 170cm tall, with a thin build, and at the time he was wearing a hooded jumper and light coloured pants.

The second attacker is also 170cm tall, with a thin build, and had dark coloured hair with a shaved back and sides and longer hair on top.

Investigators have also released images of Mr Teriaki in the hope people can provide further information about his activities in the lead up to his murder.

They also want to speak to anyone who recognises the silver sedan.
