Two science education programmes developed by the Otago Museum, on climate change in the Antarctic, and interactives for early childhood centres, have attracted "positive attention".

The museum’s "Far from Frozen" exhibition, which focuses on the threat of climate change in the Antarctic, was previously displayed at the museum in Dunedin.

Recently, it has also proved popular at the International Antarctic Centre in Christchurch.

There it attracted more than 900 visitors, and is now being hosted at the Canterbury Museum by that museum’s education team.

The travelling exhibition, which received $114,000 in funding through MBIE’s Unlocking Curious Minds contracts, and had attracted more than 14,500 visitors, well beyond the 3500 originally anticipated and contracted with MBIE, an Otago Museum Trust Board report said.

A "Science Playground" project, backed by $14,000 in Curious Minds funding, had also attracted "positive attention" from the early childhood sector.
