Otago Polytechnic fashion design graduate Shelby Tuinman-Bell, of Queenstown, won the polytechnic's people's choice award at the International Emerging Designer Awards.
The win was announced on Saturday, after her designs received the most support by text message after the Thursday event.
Ms Tuinman-Bell was one of four chosen from the polytechnic to show her graduate collection at the Dunedin event.
Her collection Half-Sleep was based on dreams, and the idea of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint.
Her quilted, knitted garments used textures from mattresses, duvets and blankets.
Ms Tuinman-Bell won $500.
