Almost 600 birds were on display at the 49th annual Dunedin Poultry Show at Forrester Park.
Show manager Austin Smith said ‘‘fancy’’ bantams — small and pretty — put in a strong appearance.
Large poultry were also high in number, he said.
The show was hosted by the Dunedin Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Club, which is focused on growing heritage breeds.
Mr Smith said door sales from the public appeared to be solid on Saturday.
Best in show was a Wheaten Old English game large fowl.
