Mosgiel shops were left to mop up this afternoon after a heavy downpour of rain caused flooding on Gordon Road.
The mid-afternoon dousing sent shopkeepers scrambling to keep the water out of their premises with some resorting to using compost bags from Mitre 10 as makeshift sandbags.
Contractors called to help clear the drains were also kept busy slowing traffic on the flooded road.
