Holly Robinson (javelin), Jessica Hamill (shotput), Rory McSweeney (javelin), Anna Grimaldi (long jump) and Caitlin Dore (javelin) all depart for the games on an 8.15am flight.
Robinson said if supporters wanted to see them off, they should go to the airport about 7am.
The team will stop on the Gold Coast for 12 days, and then San Diego for 10 days, before their arrival in Brazil.
This would help the team acclimatise to the warm conditions they would encounter at the games in Rio, Robinson said.
There were challenges to training in the cold of Dunedin, she said.
"It's hard to put that much force through your body when it's cold.''
She said the athletes had chosen to train with Athletics Taieri because of the opportunity to work with High Performance New Zealand coach Raylene Bates.
Robinson said she was not concerned about stories suggesting accommodation in Rio de Janeiro might be substandard.
"We just have to wait and see what it's like when we get there.
"I'm sure the things that Paralympics New Zealand is doing will make us feel comfortable in the village.
"That's really their side of things. We shouldn't have to worry about it.''
While she wasn't sure about expected performances, Robinson said it was a strong team.
"We've got quite a good athletics team.
"Everyone that was selected in the team is top 10 in the world.''
Shotputter Jessica Hamill said she would just try to do her best and not worry too much about other competitors.
"You can't control what others do.''
