A North Dunedin backyard gig/ city institution marked its ninth year on Saturday.

Feastock, a concert at 3 Fea St in Dalmore, was attended by about 300 people.

Organiser Steve Marshall said the event went well and ''we got a bloody nice day for it''.

The gig has often been marked by mud and gumboots in previous years, but on Saturday, concert-goers enjoyed a balmy autumn day which saw the mercury reach 19degC.

''We take the day as it comes and look forward to seeing the people we see most years,'' Mr Marshall said.

Ten acts played during the day before concert-goers were taken by bus to Re:Fuel for the ''cosmic late-night party'' and another 10 bands.

This year's lineup featured Jo Little & Jared Smith; Elan Vital; Oleh; Ambulant; Otepuni Moonshine; Julian Temple Band; Killergrams; The Shambles; Tiny Pieces of Eight; Space Bats, Attack!; The Vortz; Tahu & The Takahes; The Mentalist Collective; The H3rd; The Rothmans; Iron Mammoth; Soaked Oats; Left Or Right; High Twitch Athletic Club; Koizilla.

Mr Marshall said while a ''big'' 10th Feastock was looming, he and his fellow flatmates had not thought too far ahead.

''We'll see how we get through this one,'' he said.

''The neighbourhood has been really cool.

''They have been so supportive of it for the last nine years.

''It's organised. It's controlled. It ticks all the boxes.''

A police spokeswoman said they were not required at this year's event.
