Eminent Dunedin musicians Sydney Manowitz (violin) and Donald Cullington (keyboard) will celebrate the genius of Johann Sebastian Bach in two concerts this month.

Under the umbrella of the Dunedin Fringe Festival, the pair will play all eight of Bach’s violin and keyboard sonatas today and on March 19, from 3pm, in Hanover Hall. Entry by koha.

Both musicians have had long and distinguished performance careers.

Manowitz studied at the Juilliard School in New York, toured with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and was concertmaster of Dunedin Symphony Orchestra for many years.

Cullington studied in Wellington and London, and has pursued a varied musical career as executant, teacher and academic, plus performing as a piano and organ soloist.

Manowitz and Cullington joined forces in 2014, and have performed around the South Island, including performing all 10 of Beethoven’s violin and piano sonatas in three Dunedin concerts.
