Blueskin Bay track decision delayed

A Dunedin City Council decision on reopening a track from Warrington to Blueskin Bay has been put off until the next council meeting, on August 18, while legal advice is sought on the matter.

The Waikouaiti Coast Community Board recently decided vehicle access to the track should continue to be controlled, following feedback from the local community, which was split evenly between those wanting vehicle access, because they believed there was a historical right of use, and those who did not, mainly due to safety concerns.

Access to the short track, which starts at the corner of Bank and Bay Rds, was blocked about 2008, an action that has been a source of debate among the Warrington community since then.
