Body found was missing Mosgiel woman

Police have confirmed a body found on Thursday night was that of a missing Mosgiel woman.

The body of Gae Pantel (67) was found about 8pm on Thursday in a rural area close to Gladstone Rd by two cyclists who were searching for her.

She was found 2km from the house where she had last been seen on Tuesday evening.

Sergeant Kevin Davidson, of Mosgiel, said the circumstances around Mrs Pantel's death were not suspicious and the matter had been referred to the coroner.

Police extended their thanks to all those who participated in the intensive search for Mrs Pantel over the past few days, particularly the volunteer search and rescue teams.

''Searchers have put in 100% effort into finding Mrs Pantel and I would sincerely like to thank them for their commitment over the past few days,'' Sgt Davidson said.
