Emergency services rushed to a Dunedin street yesterday evening after reports of a body on the road only to find out it was a mannequin.

A witness, who lives nearby, said he saw two St John ambulances, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand appliance and a police car at the scene where the "body" was seen on South Rd, near the intersection with Glen Rd.

He said he saw the emergency services at the scene about 7pm.

A police spokeswoman said "This was a report of a body on the road, however it appears it was a mannequin."
