The members of the country music band have individually played at concerts in Mosgiel before, but their concert on Tuesday next week at Hotel-Motel Taieri will be the first time they have all played together in the town.
Mr Kempton said he and wife Glenda's promotions company BGS Promotions was started by his daughter Stephanie, a country music performer who died in an accident in 2005.
He and his wife decided to continue the business, and were proud to be bringing to Mosgiel some of the singers their daughter had worked with. He said it had been difficult to get the members of Gunbarrel Highwaymen together for a show, as they were all individually busy as artists of some renown in their own right. This was the first time in eight years he had managed to get them together for a tour.
The band is made up of members Owen Blundell, a five-time male vocalist finalist in the Australian Country Music Awards' album of the year; Terry Gordon, who has released 16 albums and played with the likes of Slim Dusty, Tex Morton and Willie Nelson; and Reg Poole, who has won five Golden Guitars at the Country Music Awards of Australia and a host of other nominations.
He won the Golden Guitar for best new talent in 1974 and continued winning through the next decade.
That band has played together for more than 20 years.
Mr Kempton said he hoped to see the venue packed to capacity for a great night of entertainment.
