It was one of the many artistic talents of Otago Polytechnic Te Pūkenga students and staff, celebrated at the polytechnic’s "Tōku Tūnga Ki Tēnei Wahi: My Place in This Place" exhibition yesterday.

It aimed to boost wellbeing by putting artworks, performances and free food prepared by the culinary arts students on display.

Jono Paul’s mixed media artwork, titled "Hauora Kete", was also on display.

Polytechnic executive director Chris Williamson said several community agencies specialising in all elements of wellbeing were also present, including Life Matters, Ōtepoti Community Wellness Hub and Sport Otago.

"Being able to express ourselves in ways that align with our own preferences and creative voices can boost hauora [wellbeing].

"Sharing with others is an excellent way to build a stronger sense of community, collaboration, and belonging — all of which are very important factors in strong mental health."
