Stint at Otago for US food scientist

Food engineering educator and researcher Paul Singh has been named this year’s Harraways 1867 Visiting Professor at the University of Otago.

Working with research students, Prof Singh has developed novel food-processing equipment, such as a fruit and vegetable-processing system, for Nasa’s proposed manned mission to Mars.

A distinguished professor emeritus of food engineering at the University of California at Davis, Prof Singh will visit Otago University in August.

He is widely recognised in the field of food engineering education, research, development, consultation and technology transfer programmes.

He will give workshops and public lectures in Dunedin and Auckland during his August visit, and also attend the Institute of Food Science and Technology 20th World Congress in Auckland.
