Police are warning North Dunedin residents to lock their vehicles after two cars were stolen while the keys were left in the ignition.
Senior Sergeant Darryl Lennane said both of the vehicles were stolen while they were left unattended for a "couple of minutes".
"One car, taken from the corner of George St on Saturday afternoon, was recovered yesterday."
The second, taken from North Rd at about 1.15pm today and was still missing, he said.
"It is described as a green and silver 1998 Toyota Raum station wagon, registration number DRN627."
Car owners were advised to prevent this type of opportunistic crime by ensuring their vehicles were locked when left unattended, Snr Sgt Lennane said
"Locking your car should be a priority and valuables should not be left inside."
