The 47-year-old Australian is the new Dunedin Casino manager, replacing Nick Winder, who left earlier this year to become Gulf Harbour Country Club general manager.
After beginning her casino career as a dealer at the Burswood Casino in Perth, Miss Williams moved to New Zealand in 1994 to work at the newly opened Christchurch Casino.
She started there as a gaming inspector and soon became VIP services manager, which entailed looking after clients, as well as promoting and marketing the casino.
Miss Williams said her aim was for Dunedin Casino, one of six in New Zealand, to become a role model for other casinos.
With the casino set to mark its 10th year of business in October, it was important to keep it "reinvigorated", and a place Dunedin people and visitors wanted to visit.
Work would begin next month on a new car park, and a new dining area might be added in the future, she said.
While the economic downturn was affecting the gaming industry, "it is not hopeless".
