Driver charged after doing burnouts, fleeing police

A car spotted doing burnouts on a field later drove along a footpath before fleeing police.

Acting Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond said police were contacted at 2am today after reports of a car doing burnouts on a field in Riselaw Rd.

Police arrived to find the car being driven along a footpath.

It failed to stop for police, heading into Mulford St before finally stopping.

The 24-year-old male driver had been charged with failing to stop, intentional damage, driving while forbidden, possession of cannabis, and sustained loss of traction.
