Otago Peninsula Community Board chairman Paul Pope has asked the Dunedin City Council to tidy up a "scruffy" pavilion at the Portobello Domain.
Mr Pope said the pavilion roof needed cleaning, some spouting had failed and this could cause water damage to the building.
Other preventive maintenance work was also needed, he said. The pavilion "looks a bit scruffy" and he was keen to "get that tidied up". Council parks and recreation acting group manager Robert West attended this week’s board meeting at the Portobello Bowling Club and said he would investigate.
Mr Pope appreciated Mr West had spent 50 minutes at the board meeting, and had interacted helpfully with the board on a wide range of topics, including the need for more work to be done on the peninsula track network.
Asked later if the council would act to protect the pavilion, Mr West acknowledged the board had "raised a concern" about it. He was following up with his team to see if any reports had already been been done "on the state of this particular building".
He had "committed that I will get back" to the board at its next meeting, to provide an update.
