The 10-year contract would bring certainty at a time of rising competition, the council said.
‘‘This new contract allows Citycare Water to continue its good work across Dunedin, and gives both parties certainty to plan effectively for the long-term maintenance needs of Ōtepoti Dunedin’s water network,’’ council chief executive Sandy Graham said.
Citycare was a proven partner in an environment where new water entities were competing for similar services, she said.
Citycare Water acting chief executive Gareth Husband said the firm would continue ‘‘delivering innovative and reliable solutions for Ōtepoti’s infrastructure needs, great service, and ultimately healthy and reliable water, wastewater and stormwater systems for the people who live here’’.
