Dunedin welcome for All Blacks

Dunedin is preparing for the arrival of the All Blacks this weekend.

The team will be welcomed to Dunedin International Airport on Sunday by the King's and Queen's High Schools' kapa haka group, before being piped through the terminal by the City of Dunedin Pipe Band.

The Dunedin City Council hoped fans would put on a southern welcome for the All Blacks and South African rugby teams, community events co-ordinator Marilyn Anderson said yesterday.

The All Blacks are due to touch down at 3.45pm, followed by the Springboks at 9.10am on Thursday, September 13. They will be welcomed by the John McGlashan College Pipe Band and the South African national anthem sung by South African-born University of Otago cello lecturer Heleen du Plessis and recent Lexus Song Quest finalist Kawiti Waetford.

The September 15 test will be the first time the All Blacks have played at Forsyth Barr Stadium.
