False alarm over paddleboards

Two paddleboards seen adrift in the middle of Otago Harbour sparked a police call out yesterday afternoon.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said police received a report of the paddleboards in the harbour "with no people attached" about 3.30pm yesterday.

However, an investigation determined the boards were old and had not been used in a long time, he said.
