Children, start your engines.

A multisport event for preschoolers and entry-level schoolchildren will make a splash at Logan Park this weekend.

More than 250 children were expected at the Stride, Ride and Slide on Sunday, Sport Otago marketing co-ordinator Amanda Dyer said this week. The event was developed three years ago to give young children fun opportunities to develop their confidence and physical wellbeing, she said.

The event features a 50m run, 150m trike course and a waterslide finish, powered by the Dunedin Fire Service.

Stride, Ride and Slide is on from 10am to 12.30pm tomorrow at the University Oval, at Logan Park.

A Stride, Ride and Slide will also be held at Memorial Park in Mosgiel, from 9.30am to 11.30am, on December 15.

It will be followed by the annual Christmas Cracker triathlon, for 6- to 11-year-olds.
