At the board meeting at Middlemarch on Thursday, chairman Barry Williams said it was agreed $406.89 be given to the Strath Taieri medical services committee.
Committee member Stephanie Macauly said the money was needed to replace pads in the automated external defibrillator (AED) at Hyde and to replace the pads and battery in another AED at Middlemarch.
The AEDs could save the life of someone after they had had a heart attack, she said.
Mr Williams said the money was given because the AEDs were a community asset.
