Police say further arrests are expected after the arrest of a Black Power member during a raid on a Balmacewen Rd address in Dunedin this morning.
A police spokeswoman said the pre-planned search warrant resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old Mangu Kaha member on intimidation and damage charges about 9.15am.
Inquires were ongoing and further arrests were expected, the spokeswoman said.
The man would appear in the Dunedin District Court on September 13.
"Police will not tolerate gang intimidation and violence in the community, and in line with Operation Cobalt will be taking a zero tolerance approach to anti social behaviour," the spokeswoman said.
A witness reported seeing a large police presence blocking off the street at the time of the raid, including members of the armed offenders squad.
