A company that provides holiday homes located in isolated places with walls, floor and roof all made of glass could soon start building on  Otago Peninsula and in Central Otago.

PurePods promises  total immersion in the scenery of sites off the beaten track, and the glass roof provides a full view of the night sky.

Chief executive Stephanie Hassall said her company had already had  "initial discussions" with a property owner on the peninsula, and was looking for a site in the Queenstown area.

The company already has four buildings in Canterbury, and Ms Hassall said it was keen to expand.

The peninsula was "an amazing place", which would suit the business.

The company hoped to build in Otago next year, she said.
