Duncan Chambers-Watson, Kelsi Bennett, Daniel Kwok, Michaela Poots, Simone Watson and Marc Jun will show four outfits each in the polytechnic's ''Capsule'' collection showcase, alongside international, national, and emerging designers in the iD shows at Dunedin Railway Station.
Just before stepping out in Friday's graduation parade, the new graduates were feeling great about the opportunity.
''It's the perfect finish to our degrees. It's a great feeling,'' Kwok told The Star.
''And it will be our first chance to walk out on the catwalk as a designer, and that is very exciting.''
The garments will be drawn from the graduates' final degree collections, each with a unique style and theme.
Dr Margo Barton, Otago Polytechnic's School of Design academic leader and principal lecturer (fashion), said the selected students each showed meaningful themes and innovative techniques in their collections. In particular, they developed their own textiles, including textile printing, embroidery, machine knitting and texturising, which gave their collections a creative edge.
''It is fantastic to see them all ready to graduate. This is such a great group,'' she said.
''Showing on the catwalk alongside Dunedin fashion icons Nom*D, Carlson and Mild Red ... is the most amazing career launching pad for these talented young designers.''
Tickets to the runway shows will go on sale on January 30.
Four of the selected designers - Poots, Kwok, Watson and Chambers-Watson - also showed at Shanghai Fashion Week this year.
