Green Island residents urged to report suspicious behaviour

Police are asking Green Island residents to be on the lookout for any suspicious characters in the neighbourhood after a series of daytime burglaries over the past week.

Two more attempted burglaries occurred on Wednesday, in Waldron Cres and Shand St, Senior Sergeant Kelvin Lloyd said.

He suspected the burglaries were related as similar methods of entry were used.

''We are encouraging residents to report anything suspicious. If there had been anyone knocking on the door and making some excuse of why they are there, then we need to know it.''

The offender had attempted to break in to the Waldron St property and successfully entered the Shand St property.

Nothing appeared to have been taken from either address, but items had been stolen from properties earlier this week.

Police and Neighbourhood Watch intend to increase patrols in the area.

Brochures would also be dropped in letterboxes seeking information and offering advice, he said.

Police were seeking information about a thin European male, wearing a blue top and grey hoodie, who was seen in the area.
