A man has been imprisoned for his part in an armed robbery of a Mosgiel pub.
Psalm Barbarich, 37, was sentenced in the Dunedin District Court to four years, eight months’ imprisonment on Friday after pleading guilty to aggravated robbery.
Ashley Charles Old, 31, received an identical sentence in April last year for his part in the robbery and an additional charge.
On August 26, 2022, the two defendants discussed robbing the Crofters Arms Hotel.
The pair entered the building wearing masks and hoods.
Barbarich was holding the gun.
He jumped over the bar while Old kept watch and ensured no patrons approached.
Barbarich presented the firearm at the bar manager before prodding her back with it and demanding to know where the safe was.
Behind the bar, he located a large box and plastic cups filled with $2 coins, which he passed to Old.
The bar manager showed them the safe and Barbarich took three till trays and gave them to his co-defendant.
The duo’s actions at the bar were caught on CCTV and partially on a Snapchat video the victim took.
It is believed they stole almost $5000.
