The original store, located on Bond St, is clearing out in preparation for the move into its new ‘‘super-store’’.

It has taken bagging a bargain to another level with 50% off its second-hand goods.

Ms Callanan said the new space would serve as a more permanent and sustainable home and would be better value for money.

‘‘It will probably take us a few years to recoup the price ... but really going into the future, we are going to be here for 50 years.’’

It would also be an improved space for workers, with better facilities which included a larger stock processing room for volunteers.

She said the shop was a major fundraiser for the hospice, which assists those with life-limiting illnesses and provides specialist palliative care.

Although the hospice was partly government-funded, fundraising was necessary to provide the services for free.

The new shop will open on Thursday.
