Indian summer runs on and on

University of Otago physical education student Anna Hodel (21), of Dunedin, enjoys yesterday's fine weather while jogging near the University Oval.

April continues to be kind to the lower South Island, with calm weather and clear skies producing maximum temperatures of between 16degC and 23degC around Otago yesterday.

MetService weather ambassador Bob McDavitt said autumn anticyclones continued to bring settled weather, often referred to as ‘‘Indian summer'' conditions, to much of New Zealand.

‘‘As far as temperatures are concerned, it's a mixed bag. Autumn days are still warmer than normal thanks to the extra sunshine,'' he said, adding clear nights had meant some frosts.
