Legal aid tribunal named

Former Dunedin lawyer Elizabeth Bulger was yesterday named as one of 14 members of the new Legal Aid Tribunal, which will replace the Legal Aid Review Panel on July 1.

Justice Minister Simon Power yesterday named Ms Bulger, of Christchurch, among the tribunal's members.

The tribunal's establishment is part of the changes to the legal aid system enacted by Parliament. All its members must be lawyers.

The tribunal chairman is David Plunkett, previously deputy chairman of the Immigration and Protection Tribunal.

The other members are: Doug Bailey, Eric Forster, Gary Gotlieb, Mark Harborow, Anita Killeen, Jonathan Krebs, Nicolette Levy, Paul Maskell, Letizea Ord, Ingrid Squire, Robert Stevens and Maria Young.
